Alum of the Month: Adam Thoms, Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Iowa State

Adam Thoms graduated in Horticulture with Turfgrass Option in May 2006.  Adam is from Waverly, Iowa.

Adam’s major job responsibilities are teaching Sports Turf Management and Irrigation classes, conduct turfgrass research, and serve as the Turfgrass Extension Specialist for Iowa.

We asked Adam what he likes most about his position.  I really enjoy interacting with the turfgrass professionals and solving problems they are having.  It is so much fun to get to see how everyone manages their turfgrass, and the pride they take in their jobs.

Following is the advice Adam offers to current students:  Don’t be afraid to get involved and try the opportunities that are offered to you while at Iowa State University.  You have so many opportunities from amazing internships, to competitions, to study abroad events that can lead to a potential connection for the future.
