Turf Club Wins Student Challenge

The Iowa State University Turf Club is back-to-back Student Challenge champions at the recently held Sports Turf Managers Association Annual Meeting in Phoenix.  The ISU team made up of Alex Polnow, Thomas Gould, Marcus O’Brien, and Kylah Crooks won the 4-year division for the second straight year by one point.  There were 32 teams total taking the Sports Turf Managers Association Student Challenge this year.  This exam tests students over turfgrass identification, management of turf and non-turf areas, soils, irrigation, mathematics, and general problem solving.  In addition to winning medals and a trophy that will be displayed in Horticulture Hall, the turf club won $5,000.  Way to go Cyclones!
