ALUM OF THE MONTH: Travis Dykstra, Golf & Sports Turf Territory Manager with Van Wall Equipment
February 5, 2020Travis Dykstra graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture with an Emphasis in Turfgrass in May 2006. Travis is the Golf & Sports Turf Territory Manager for Western/Central Iowa with Van Wall Equipment. Van Wall Equipment is the local John Deere Golf and Sports Turf equipment provider here in Iowa. 
His responsibilities primarily consist of working with Golf and Sports Turf customers to achieve their equipment needs at their facilities. In addition he says they are always looking at ways to provide solutions that create more efficient operations, provide safe and consistent playing surfaces. Travis says he likes that his job is different every day. Working with different people that have a variety of responsibilities but are working towards a common goal in Turfgrass maintenance. His advice to current students is to Network as much as possible because you never know who you will meet and how it could payoff in the future. Also don’t be afraid to challenge yourself with something new, technology is consistently changing, so being able to adapt will be important. Travis is from Sibley, Iowa and currently lives in Huxley, Iowa.
