Cynthia Haynes
Current Research
Dr. Haynes enriches her teaching and extension responsibilities by conducting research in human issues in horticulture and pedagogy. Her research emphasis is evaluating horticulture education for children, undergraduate students, and adults. Current projects include 1) assessing the impact of a gardening curriculum on first graders in Iowa, 2) surveying student expectations of a horticulture study abroad course, and 3) evaluating Iowa Master Gardeners’ perceptions of training. In addition, Dr. Haynes has conducted research on the Iowa nursery industry, potentially new herbaceous perennials, and extension programming.
