Graduate Student Profile
Introducing: Brian Anthony Campbell
Advisor: Dr. David Hannapel
Degree Seeking: Ph.D.
Current Research
-
Characterization Study of BEL genes in non-tuber bearing (NTB) species
of potatoes to better understand their function.
Over-expression of BEL genes in tuber-bearing species of potatoes gives an increased tuberization phenotype. The BEL genes are present in NTB species of potatoes, but what processes are these genes involved in?
Future Research
- Transformation Study utilizing plasmids with removable antibiotic markers.
- PhotoPeriod mutant Study: Is enhanced tuber formation in Phytochrome B anti-sense mutants mediated by StBEL5 expression and/or movement?
