Hometown: DeWitt, Iowa

Extra Curricular Activities: I am a member of the American Society for Horticultural Science, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and the Crop Science Society of America.

Hobbies: I am a gardener interested in producing both food and beauty. I also enjoy canning my produce and cooking with it. When I can find time I quilt, ski or read. My favorite part of the day is walking my dogs with my husband.

Favorite Movie: Romeo & Juliet (1997 version) because it brought a classic story to relevant times. Some of my other favorites are Contact, Finding Forester, Pulp Fiction and Wimbledon.

Favorite Book: Persuasion by Jane Austen is my favorite book although I enjoy all of her books. I also read Barbara Kingsolver and Michael Pollan books because they frequently discuss issues related to local foods. Historical fiction is also intriguing such as Centennial or Hawaii by James A. Michener.

Advice to students: Listen to your intuition and incorporate it into the advice you receive – you will find the right path. Make sure you enjoy what you do in life, it will lead to success.
