Faculty and Staff Awards Received in 2006

Dr. Gail R. Nonnecke was the selected recipient for the USDA, Food and Agricultural Sciences Excellence in College and University Teaching National Award. This award is based on teaching quality, philosophy, methodology and service to the profession and students as well as professional growth and development and the endorsement of an administrator, colleague and alumnus. Dr. Nonnecke is one of only two people to receive the national award, which encompasses all the food and agricultural disciplines.

Dr. Mark Gleason was the recipient of a Regents Faculty Excellence Award in 2006.

Dr. Ann Marie VanDerZanden was the May 2006 recipient of the Writing Award of Merit from the National Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association for an ornamental feature article entitled "Mixing it Up", which she wrote for Grounds Maintenance magazine.

Dr. Ann Marie VanDerZanden was named Iowa State University Wakonse Fellow.

Dr. Ann Marie VanDerZanden was named Iowa State University Miller Faculty Fellow.

Dr. Henry Taber was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Plasticulture in November, 2006.

Barb Osborn received the Honor Award by the Iowa State Horticultural Society, November, 2006;

Barb Osborn received the College of Ag Student Recruitment and Retention Award, January, 2006.

Dr. David Hannapel receives leadership award.... The annual IPPM Faculty/Student Retreat was held on Saturday, September 9, 2006, at the Story County Conservation Center of McFarland Park. The Program Chair Dr. Kan Wang presented Leadership Appreciation Plaques to four past Chairs of the Program, Dr. Cecil Stewart (1987-1992), Dr. Martin Spalding (1992-2000), Dr. David Hannapel (2000-2003), and Dr. Robert Thornburg (2003-2006) in recognition of their leadership and service to the Major.
